Green living, solar home tour is Saturday (10-3-2009)
Learn about tax incentives of renewable energyA free one-hour workshop, “Residential Basics of Going Solar,” is offered at Southwestern Oregon Community College’s Eden Lecture Hall Saturday, at 9 a.m., as the kick-off event to the “Green Living and Solar Home Tour.”
Keynote speaker Kevin Berg, event coordinator from Solar Oregon will present the easy basics of solar energy systems for your homes and businesses. This workshop will demonstrate how Residential Tax Credits and incentives can often cover up to 80 percent of the cost of going solar. Attendees will learn how well solar works in Oregon, about available solar technologies, financial assistance, and how to choose a qualified contractor.

The keynote event kicks off the Green Living and Solar Home Tour in Coos County, a fun, day-long event to demonstrate what local residents and contractors have accomplished to help turn area homes into “green living” homes and see how well applied solar technology can work in this area to save money and energy, and to beautify homes.
